My name is Cole England.
If this is your first visit here; Welcome. Over the next 40 days I'm going to be detailing my life style surrounding my preparation for the North American Grappling Association (NAGA) event in Fall River, MA. The competition begins on February 23, 2008. I hope people can appreciate the amount of work that competitors like myself put into our sport through this journal. So without delaying, I begin.
Saturday, January 12, 2008:
My strict diet is slightly on hiatus as I've decided to cut weight (Sauna, low food/water intake days before the fight) to maximize my size advantage in my weight class. Luckily, weighing in the night before the fight will allow me to gain back as much weight as possible.
Current Weight: 167.4
My workout on Saturday consisted of a strength and cardio vascular "sprint" designed to mimic the sort of "intense then calm then intense" breathing required of a grappling match.
Keep in mind the only break I have between sets is the time it takes me to jog from space to space or from pieces of equipment.
1) I started of by sprinting 1 mile which for me is currently just about 7:00 minutes even.
2) 50 push ups with no breaks
3) Squats: 15 reps of 150 pounds
4) 5 minute sprint
5) 30 push ups
6) Squats: 15 reps of 150 pounds
7) 5 minute sprint
8) 25 push ups
9) Squats: final set of 15 reps of 150 pounds
10) Shadow boxing with elbows for 3 minutes
11) 50 sit ups
12) Tricep extensions: 10 reps 85 pounds
13) 30 sit ups
14) Tricep extensions: 10 reps 85 pounds
15) 25 situps
15) Tricep extensions: 8 reps 85 pounds
16) 25 sit ups
17) Sprint: 5 minutes
18) Bicep Curls: 40 reps 25 pounds
Phew. This workout put a real burn on me and I kept my heart rate at a really good pace of 140.
After I started completed this workout I ended with a well deserved 15 minutes in the sauna to shed a few pounds and get rid of the toxins.
This is my first attempt at displaying my workout as clearly as possible.
